Making an Appointment
If you think that counselling or psychotherapy might help you, WLCPS can arrange a consultation with an experienced therapist to discuss your concerns in detail and give you some idea of the process of therapy.

By telephone: An appointment can be booked by phoning the above number. If no one is available to take your call you may leave a message on our answerphone and a therapist will respond promptly, usually the same day. The therapist will be able to arrange with you a date, time and the location for your first appointment.
By e-mail: If you prefer, you may make an appointment by e-mail. Please include your name and availability (eg. whether you prefer a daytime or evening session) to assist us in offering you a suitable appointment time.
What happens next?
The initial consultation appointment offers an opportunity to think together with an experienced therapist about your difficulties. Here you can talk in confidence about what has brought you to this point in your life and whether therapy is appropriate for you at this time. You will also be able to discuss practical issues such as fees and frequency of sessions and to ask any questions you may have.
Attending an initial consultation places you under no obligation to attend any further sessions but you will be offered further sessions if this is appropriate. If the kind of counselling and psychotherapy the service offers is not the most appropriate form of help for you, the therapist will usually be able to suggest an alternative treatment and assist you in finding a suitable practitioner. Sometimes the therapist or you may feel that a further session is desirable to help reach a conclusion.
Fees
The consultation usually lasts between 1 and 1 1/2 hours and the current fee is £60.
Fees for counselling and psychotherapy vary (on average £40-£55 per session). The fee for regular therapy sessions is negotiated with the individual therapist. Sessions are 50 minutes long.
